Anxiety and stress treatment require action. Your current reality does not respond to what you feel, think or say. Rather, your current reality responds to what you do. You can create what you want if you are willing to do what is necessary.
You need to focus on your current reality if you will achieve the vision that you want. But how does this relate to stress or anxiety treatment? You need to feel what you feel and do what is necessary to be done anyway.
Dr. Gary Emery, a well know research and practicing psychologist has developed a great way to do this in order to push through the anxiety and achieve your goals regardless of your fear. You can then develop a fearless mind.

“I will accept the fact that I am anxious. My vision is to do X, so I am going to do Y.”
“I accept the fact that I feel panicky. My vision is to do X, so I am going to do Y.”
“I accept the fact that I am going to faint. My vision is to do X, thus I am going to do Y.”
“I accept the fact that I feel as if I am going to run away. My vision is to do X, I am going to do Y.”
Where X is the action you want to take and Y is what you need to do to take the action and go forward.
Would you agree that when you are in the middle of an anxiety episode, you often believe you are out of control? Regardless of what you have come to believe, the fact is that you have more management over your body than you think you do. Despite the level of anxiety that you feel, you still have control over the muscles in your arms and legs. You can still act if you choose.
You will develop self-confidence and a greater sense of belief in yourself by acting. Your belief is in your toolkit, if you use it. Your beliefs are the tools that you use to deal with the unknown in a way that achieves your desired outcomes.
Because the method focuses upon what needs to be done if you switch your attention from you fear and anxiety to what needs to be accomplished. That could be giving a speech, going to a party, asking for a raise from your boss, writing a paper or taking a test. Whatever it is you fear or are anxious about.
When you focus upon the actions necessary to accomplishing the job you are focusing upon “what is” versus “what if.” When you focus on the job you need to accomplish you get rid of anxiety.
To accept the way you feel (anxiety) as true, and act as if your feelings are not true is the secret to feeling less anxious and creating a new healthier reality. Your action helps you relieve the anxiety and stress.
You do not have to perform perfectly. In fact, perfection does not and ever will exist. Just act in spite of the anxiety. Slow down if necessary but keep acting, keep doing, keep talking and going forward.
Even though your actions may be awkward at first, when you keep acting, you develop greater confidence and the actions become less difficult. You develop the habit of changing your reality.
