Help with My Kids Stress Now
Some kids have a number of different problems that are causing them stress. Sometimes the problems can seem to be insurmountable and at times they seem like they're not going away. I'm going to talk about some of these issues and how I think you can help fix them for your child.
Most of the time I've heard the stories about “my kids” being angry and having tantrums or having trouble with their homework or just not enjoying the same things as you do. What I'm usually hearing about are external factors. These are things like parents not giving enough attention to them, getting too much homework, or even just the stress in general.
The thing that's really frustrating is the fact that sometimes you don't even know what's causing the problems with your child. Often times you will know that the child is unhappy with something, but they won't tell you that they are. That's why it's important to find out what's causing the problem before you take steps to fix it. Let's look at how you can help your child.
Fixing Child Stress
One important part of fixing this problem is making sure that you give them enough sleep at night. This is an area where many parents go wrong though. Sometimes they sleep with their children and don't give them enough sleep, which causes them to get up in the middle of the night and start yelling and screaming and doing all sorts of things that they shouldn't be doing when they are still a small child.
The way that you can solve this problem is to make sure that you have your kids as much sleep as possible. If you can't sleep and you're constantly trying to get a good night of sleep, then try to avoid getting them to sleep during the day. Take them out of the house and let them do things outside. This will give them the sleep they need at night and you'll be able to help them with other things around the house. Consistency is important. Remember, it is a major developmental milestone for children to sleep in their own room and in their own bed.
Another thing that you can do is to stop criticizing your child if they do something that they shouldn't. Instead, ask them what they could have done differently. This isn't always the easiest thing to do but if you do it enough, your child will start to realize what they are doing is wrong and they will learn from their mistakes, over time. This will help your child to develop a strong sense of self-respect and learn effective problem-solving.
One thing that you can do to help with this problem is to talk about how much you want your child to have fun when they are playing. Let them know how important it is that they have fun time as well as school or chore time. This will help them have more energy and that will also help them to make sure that they are happy and stay happier. But it is important for all of us to understand that it is unrealistic to be “happy” all the time.
When your child gets tired or bored, it's natural to want to get some type of entertainment. You should try to find a movie, game, television show, or other type of entertainment for them to do this at night, especially if you're trying to solve this problem on a daily basis. Make sure that they are enjoying themselves as well. But remember, especially with school age children ‘First we work then we play.’
If you're trying to make them feel better about their bedroom and they aren't sleeping in their room, ask them to sit on the bed and just lie there until they fall asleep. Some calming music or reading them a story can be calming.
With older children, try asking them to write down what they think is bothering them and then put a little of it on a piece of paper and take it to the person that they feel the need to talk to. They might be able to find the answer to this problem themselves. If not, then you should try to have them problem solve with you and make a list of things that they need to do in order to fix this problem. Once you find the problem, then you can then help them fix the problem by brain storming solutions. Teach them how to do this.
An important thing to remember is to keep your child busy when they are bored or having a problem. Kids will generally be a lot more interested in activities that are enjoyable than they would be if they were having a lot of problems. Having them busy with something is a great way to help them feel better and ultimately help them solve their issue.
